Do we have the Cred for CRed?
CRed originated in the School of Environmental Sciences (ENV) at UEA, and is EEDA's flagship low carbon project. ENV is regarded as one of the top institutions in the world for environmental sciences. It has the top national rankings in research (double-5*) and teaching ('excellent').
It is regarded as a world leader in the study of climate change and its impacts; it includes the Climatic Research Unit which was the first research centre in the world devoted to the study of climate change, and the Centre for Social and Economic Research on the Global Environment. ENV is also home to the Headquarters of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, the new national multi-institution centre for the identification of sustainable solutions for climate change.
CRed will be housed in the new Low Carbon Innovation Centre, alongside these other centres, in ENV's new landmark Zuckerman Institute for Connective Environmental Research. ENV has a scientific and support staff of more than 200 people, and so CRed will have the best possible scientific support. The School also has extensive experience working with the local community through the East Anglian Business Environment Club, the Environmental Management Systems Club, and its Energy and Waste Clubs for schools.
CRed does, therefore, have CRedibility, since the scientific CRedentials of the School of Environmental Sciences are second-to-none.
But this is only the back-up; CRed is what we build together.
